The Galway Green Party will hold a public clean up of Silver Strand beach next Saturday, 19 April at 11am. The clean up will start at Silver Strand near Barna church and make its way along the beach towards Barna village.

After a quick survey of city beaches, the Galway Greens decided this particular stretch was in urgent need of a clean. Gloves, bags and litter pickers will be provided, and the party is encouraging everyone to come along.

Local Green Party councillor Niall O'Brolcháin said: "It's a great chance for families and children to get out and help clean up the beach. Our local beaches are a fantastic facility and we have a duty to keep them in good condition for future generations. It's also a great way for people to get involved in their local community and meet new people. We're hoping for a big turn out."
