Grace Rodgers (9) from Corofin, Galway has been growing her hair for over a year in order to donate it to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that makes wigs for children with cancer.
Grace decided to do this after her cousin Aideen had been sick; Aideen is healthy now but during that time Grace and her sister Lauren learned a lot about cancer and its effects on young people.
“It’s been a long road lots of knots and bumps along the way,†said her mother Mary, “but we are delighted to finally be able to make the cutâ€.
Grace has been in to Peter Marks a few times to make sure her hair would be in excellent condition before the big cut. “The charity is very specific about the hair condition, it was important to follow the rules, the girls in Peter Mark were always helpful and patient, so we were delighted to be able to come in today for the final cut.†Once the hair is cut it has to be posted to the UK for processing.
Grace now wants to grow it again! To learn more about hair donation see littleprincesses.org.uk.
