A new group providing support for individuals who have received a cancer diagnosis will hold its first meeting in Loughrea at 7pm next Monday, 29 February.
The meeting at the Centre of Angels on Bride Street, Loughrea (opposite Paul Byron) offers those who have or had cancer a chance to enjoy a chat, have a cuppa, gather ideas, explore aspirations and hopes for the group moving forward.
The new group, Infinity, has been established by local woman Olive Duffy. “I was diagnosed in 2012 and as I was going through treatment I had loads of support from family, friends ,medical professionals, however once treatment was over I found myself looking for others who had been through a similar situation like myself, however I realised there was no group to offer support in my town,” she explains.
“So now I’m back to myself, I decided to set up this group so others will have peers to share information with, relay their fears to, educate and support each other over a cup of tea or coffee in confidence.”
Group meetings will take place from 7pm-9pm on the first Monday of each month, commencing next Monday, 29 February, in Centre of Angels, Bride Street, Loughrea. For more information contact 091-871483 and find the group on Facebook – www.facebook.com/infinityloughrea.
