Gardai in Loughrea are looking for the public's assistance in hunting down two people who beat up a wheelchair-bound man while robbing his home. The man in his 60s, who lives alone, was beaten up by a man and a woman in their 30s, gardai believe. The man had to be taken to hospital to deal with his injuries after the callous attack.

The two thieves entered the man's house at Cosmona, Loughrea between 6.30pm and 9pm on Monday 16 November, when the assault took place. They made off with a small amount of money, but put the man through a horrific ordeal, while trying to get the money out of him.

Gardai said the man was about 5'10 in height, wearing white runners and navy tracksuit pants. He is believed to have short black hair and is clean-shaven.

The female attacker is around 5'6 in height and was wearing a blue top with large letters. She had short black hair, a thin face and was of average build.

Gardai are looking for any information, especially from people who were in the Cosmona area between 5.30pm and 9.30pm. They are asking people to contact the Gardai in Loughrea on 091-841 222.
