Rehab is calling for volunteers to join its walking tour, which will take place in Australia from Saturday 15 to Sunday 30 November 2008. Rehab is offering volunteer walkers a unique opportunity to fundraise and explore the wonders of the Northern Territory and Western Australia in this trip of a lifetime while, in the process, helping benefit services to people with disabilities in communities around the country including Galway city and county. The 14-day trek will cover the diverse cities of Darwin, Perth and Fremantle, the historic town of Alice Springs and the legendary sites of Australia's famous outback The adventure begins in Darwin, the tropical capital of the north. In this multicultural city, the elegance of a bygone age is preserved in the historic Old Darwin Town House, the Old Police Station and Courthouse, and Lyons Cottage. In Alice Springs, an oasis in the heart of a vast red desert, walkers can take in the dazzling views of the town from Anzac Hill or visit The Museum of Central Australia. The trek will take in some spectacular natural sights including the unique scenery of King's Canyon in Watarrka National Park and its stunning gorges, rugged ranges and rock-holes.
