Tributes are being paid this morning to tragic Galway-based photographer Trent Keegan, who was found dead in Kenya yesterday (Wednesday 28 May). The body of the popular photographer, who was originally from New Zealand, was found in a drainage trench on the side of a highway in Nairobi early yesterday morning. Mr Keegan is reported to have suffered severe head injuries and Kenyan police are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. Thirty-three-year old Keegan had aspired to be a combat photographer and left Galway earlier this year to continue his career in Kenya. After working in Mombassa, he had recently moved to the capital, Nairobi, and was last seen on Tuesday night, when he is understood to have had dinner with a member of the Volunteer Missionary Movement before getting a taxi home. Since news of his tragic death broke yesterday, many people have paid tribute to Keegan’s strong work ethic and outgoing personality. He had lived and worked in Galway for a number of years and was a familiar face around the city. As well as working for a number of local newspapers, Keegan undertook numerous other projects in his capacity as a freelance photographer during his time in Galway and had also been involved in charity work. |
