Galway people have the third most popular accent in the country. That's according to a new study carried out by Travelodge. It showed that Irish people voted the Dublin accent as the nicest, with 31 per cent of votes, with the Cork lilt in second place with 18 per cent.

Sixteen per cent of people found the Galway accent most attractive, with TV presenter Grainne Seoige voted as having the second favourite accent among Irish men.

The figures are based on the responses of 1,000 Travelodge guests who were surveyed by the hotel chain.

Dublin accent being most popular?
written by Go Green, November 05, 2009

I think the hotel where this survey was taken was obviously in Dublin.
Everytime I hear a Dublin accent I know I have a 70% chance of getting mugged.
And everytime I hear a Cork accent I expect to turn around and find little people. haha!

So basically the city with the largest population won most popular accent, followed by the second largest city, followed by the third largest... Wonder how that happened.
