An unidentified body is about to spend its fourth Cristmas in a Galway morgue since its discovery on 8 December 2006 near Lough Inagh. Repeated attempts to identify the body of the male, which was found in a wood in the Inagh Valley, Connemara, four years ago have failed. A post mortem examination did not determine a cause of death and no evidence of trauma was found. It is estimated that the man died in the summer of 2005. However, as there was no identification on the body, he has remained nameless. A sum of cash was found in a wallet. The man is described as between 44 and 66 years old, around 5'7 1/2". Of a stock build with a 37" waist. It is thought the man may have been a mountain climber or regular walker as he was athletic. He wore a 'Bush Sports' yellow hooded jacket with a dark blue fleece lining and had two pairs of dark coloured socks inside his 'Marco Donati' brand walking shoes. Investigating gardai believe the man may have hailed from a German-speaking country as his dental work was of a Germanic style and clothing labels were in German. Anyone with information as to the identity of the man is asked to contact Clifden Garda Station on 095-21021 or the Garda confidential helpline on 1800 66611. |
