Following on from the success of international social networking sites such as Bebo and Facebook, Social Circle has launched the network site for Galway.

If you are looking for friendship, fun, romance or language exchange via the internet, there are millions of people looking or the same.

Social Circle.ie sees itself as being different to the other websites on offer because it is dedicated to Ireland only, and so, they believe, friendships or relationships created on the internet can be easily continued in person.

Social Circle caters for individuals and couples of all adult ages who are looking to expand their social circle. Unlike other social sites, which are for certain age groups, Social Circle has no limits. The site allows people to exchange messages and post personal profiles describing who they are and what their interests, hobbies and background are and to communicate through photos, videos, forum and instant chat.

After on-line friendships have been established, people can then take part in the off-line events. The events will be run on a regular basis in Galway to connect people with the same interests and hobbies. If members have a suggestion for an event, they can post it on Social Circle's website, and if it's a popular idea, they'll organise it. Events will initially be held in the Galway area, but as membership grows around the country, so too will the events.

The site was launched in April and membership is free. Click on www.socialcircle.ie for more details.
