Bus Eireann is seeking entries to its Galway Gaeilge Community Awards, an initiative which offers financial assistance to community groups contributing to the Irish language in Galway City.

This Award Scheme is a new initiative by Bus Eireann in Galway and was recently launched by Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Éamon Ó Cuiv, TD. Presenter and Gaelic Games Commentator Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh has come on board as Patron of the Awards.

Bus Eireann is looking for community groups involved in any sector to be innovative and think of ways to introduce the Irish language in their day to day activities, whether Playgroups, Youth Clubs etc. The transport company is providing an opportunity for people involved in their local communities to develop a more user friendly approach to the use of our native language and help to encourage and foster a love of the Irish language.

To enter the Award Scheme just call in to Bus Eireann Travel Centre, Galway and collect an entry form or phone Bus Eireann on 091-562000, leave your name and address and they will post an entry form to you.

The closing date for receipt of completed application forms is Friday 12 September 2008.
