A man who is charged with having explosives and a detonator at Rinville, Oranmore last year under suspicious circumstances has been sent forward for trial to Galway Circuit Criminal Court in October. Co-accused, Oliver Mannion, an unemployed single man, from Rinville West, Oranmore, Co. Galway, has already been sent forward for trial to the same court charged with having an estimated 18 kgs. of an explosive substance, containing ammonium nitrate, in his possession under such circumstances as would give rise to a reasonable suspicion that he did not have the substance in his possession for a lawful objective at Rinville West, Oranmore, on 6 September last year, contrary Section 15 of the Offences Against the State Act 1998. Mannion is further charged with being found in the unlawful possession of an explosive substance containing ammonium nitrate, other than the explosives mentioned in the first charge, at Rinville West also on 6 September last year. Judge Mary Fahy sent Charters forward for trial to the next sittings of Galway Circuit Criminal Court, commencing on 6 October next. Mannion was returned for trial on the same date last week. |
