Galway girls are still be sought to take part in this year's Galway Rose of Tralee.

The deadline has been extended until Friday 9 May at 1pm with a Gala Rose Selection Evening taking place in the Carlton Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe on Friday 16 May at 8pm.

This year's Galway Rose will contest the Irish Regional Final in Portlaoise on the weekend of 12 to 15 June in an event hosted by Today FM broadcaster Ray Darcy.

Entrants to the International Rose of Tralee must be between 18 and 28 years of age, of Irish birth or ancestry and single. Entrants cannot have previously represented a centre at the Regional Irish Final or the International Rose of Tralee Selection.

The Ballinasloe Fair and Festival are again the local hosts of the County Selection process. The winning rose will receive €1,000 in cash and an array of prizes.
