The Chairman of the Galway County Hurling Board, Miko Ryan, has had an eight-week ban from the game lifted.

Ryan was banned for an incident involving a Galway selector on the sideline during the county's Leinster championship semi-final loss to Kilkenny in Tullamore on Saturday 20 June.

Ryan appealed the County Board’s decision to the Connacht Council and a spokesperson for the provincial council confirmed that the appeal had been referred back to the Galway County Board for reprocessing.

It is understood that after another appeal to the GAA Central Council, the Connacht Council was directed to lift the suspension by Croke Park.

Ryan, the longest serving GAA officer in the county, is now free to see out his final year as chairman of the hurling board.

He has confirmed that he will be stepping down at the end of this year but this decision was made public last December and is not related to the incident during the Kilkenny game.
