The seventh annual Roundstone Summerfest takes place this year from Thursday 14 August to Sunday 17 August. As always, the festival doubles as a charity fundraiser for the RNLI.

Events such as the Roundstone Summerfest keep the RNLI going and, after the success of last years Summerfest, festival organisers Mark Forsyth, Thomas King and Simon Ashe were able to donate €4,000 to both the Clifden branch of the RNLI, and the Aran Islands lifeboat.

This year, the notorious 'King of the Culchies' competition is due to take place, with the winner going on to the All-Ireland Culchie competition. If you don't know what a Culchie is, head out to Roundstone to see some in action.

The Cow-drop is back after popular demand in an event that does exactly what it says on the tin. Participants wait around for the cow to 'drop' on a lucky square in the hope of winning a cash prise.

For the children, make sure to bring your teddy bear for the 'teddy bear's picnic' in the village hall or head up to the main street for some village games.

Live traditional music, rock music and jazz music fill the streets over the course of this weekend, and if that isn't enough for you, join in the fun and games with puppeteers, face painters and street entertainers, all guaranteed to make your Summerfest experience one to remember.

Hole-in-one golf competitions, karaoke, barbeques, book readings and storytelling are all on the agenda for the festivities this year. A live Air-Sea Rescue demonstration will also take place in Roundstone harbour.

This offers people a chance to see exactly where their donations are going while also highlighting the hard work that these organisations do. The Roundstone Summerfest kicks off tomorrow, Thursday 14 August and all are invited to come, donate and take part in the activities.
