Renmore has been nominated by Galway City Council to represent Galway City in the annual Pride of Place Competition 2008, with judging taking place on Monday 21 July at 2pm.

In preparation for this very important opportunity, the Renmore Residents Association has organised two weekend clean-up initiatives in preperation for the judging.

On both Saturday 12 July and Saturday 19 July, teams will be out attending to clean-up duties in the area. All residents and other interested groups are invited to get involved. The basic idea is to attend to household gardens, roadside grass margins where they are located, small parks and public open spaces to ensure that they are litter free.

Residents are asked to assist with any neighbours in their area who may not be able to become totally involved in the clean-ups. Galway City Council will assist in whatever way possible at making these initiatives a success. Residents are asked to match that effort in making the area a proud suburb of Galway City.

The Renmore Residents Association has embraced the project with enthusiasm and through its Environmental Sub-Committee, is already advanced in its plans at making these weekend clean-ups a success.
