Galway City Councillor Niall O Brolcháin has called on Galway City Council to explain where the proposed replica statue of Padraic O'Conaire is.

The original sculpture was moved from Eyre Square to the new city museum nearly three years ago, to be replaced by a replica in the redeveloped square.

Cllr O Brolcháin has motioned a black and white report on the replica statue at next months city council meeting. "The statue is already long out of day for Eyre Square and needs to be put in place before it is forgotten about," he said.

The Galway City Councillor has also called for the erection of signs on all the main arteries into Galway City, welcoming people to the city and wishing them safe home as they leave the city, with the signs reflecting the different languages of the city.
