The propeller from the ill-fated Cessna plane, which crashed at Aerfort na Minna, Inverin killing two on board has been sent to the USA for testing.

According to Chief Air Accident Investigator Jurgen Whyte, the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing and a preliminary report will be published in the next three weeks.

The engine of the plane has been inspected by Cessna engineers, along with experts from engine manufacturers Pratt and Whitney, in conjunction with investigators from the Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU).

Mr Whyte of the AAIU said they are “waiting on input” from the investigations before publishing the preliminary report. It is expected to give some indication into what caused the shock plane crash on the afternoon of July 5, which claimed the life of 57-year-old Loughrea accountant Paul McNamee, and Dublin pilot Matt Masterson.
