Plans lodged for UHG ring road E-mail

HSE West has confirmed it has submitted plans to Galway City Council for a new internal ring road for University Hospital Galway.

The works will consist of the widening and upgrading of the existing road between the main hospital access at Newcastle Road and the Cancer Care Hostel, Inis Aoibhinn and the construction of a new road between Inis Aoibhinn and the existing road beside the mortuary.

The total length of the additions will be 825m, with 6m to 6.5m wide carriageway and a 1.2m footpath. The works will also consist of the reconfiguration of the car-park at the Maternity Hospital, replacement parking at the Community Services offices, the restriction of access from Costelloe road by the installation of retractable bollards (or similar) in the existing gateway and all drainage, fencing, lighting and ancillary works.
