August will see the Yellow Brick Road stretching right to the door of the Town Hall Theatre, as The Wiz comes to Galway. A delightful re-imagining of the classical musical the Wizard of Oz, The Wiz will run from Monday 6 August right through to Sunday 11 August.

This jazzed-up version of the family favourite sees Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion travel through Oz accompanied by a gospel, soul and pop-rock score.

A 60-strong cast will perform the story of a young girl and her quest for home as she journeys through Oz. Favourite characters such as the Munchkins, Monkeys, the Mice Squad and the Wicked Witches all feature.

The show is being produced by Twin Productions in association with the Power Performance Academy. It is directed by Brian and Seán Power, choreographed by Cherie Worthing Eyre, with Musical Director John Flatley and Chorus Director Michel Brandt.

The Wiz will appear at the Town Hall Theatre nightly from 6 to 11 August at 8pm, with one matinee on Saturday 11 August at 3pm. Ticket prices are €16/€14 and all tickets for Monday’s preview performance are €12. Phone the Box Office on 091-569777.
