Minister Eamon O Cúiv has appeared on Questions and Answers defending the Taoiseach after his latest sessions in the Tribunal. ![]() Minister ?amon ? C?iv Minister O Cúiv said that a Red C/Sunday Business Post poll revealing that 42 per cent of people didn’t believe the Taoiseach’s evidence was certainly an issue for the government, but stressed the need to let the Tribunal “come to the end of the process.” He also pointed out that the original issue the Tribunal was to investigate was a claim that the Taoiseach had received money from property developer Owen O’Callaghan, and that this had not been proven. He also said that the only irregularity in the Taoiseach’s financial affairs “throughout years of politics” had arisen at the time of his marital separation and could not be linked with any corruption.
Labour Leader Eamon Gilmore has called for the Taoiseach’s resignation, while there is speculation that Fine Gael will put forward a motion of no confidence in Mr Ahern when the Dáil resumes today. |
