Nuisance caller sent for trial E-mail

A 32-year-old woman who is charged with making nuisance phone calls and with harassing a couple, has been sent forward for trial to the Circuit Criminal Court following her appearance before Galway District Court this week.

Nora Devaney, with an address at 32 Glenvale Court, Clybaun Road, Galway, is charged with persistently using a phone on dates between 2 August 2007 and 4 April last, at 101 Renmore Park, Renmore, Galway, for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to another. She is further charged with harassing a named person in Galway city and surrounding areas on various dates between 2 August 2007 and 4 April this year and with harassing another named person in Galway city and surrounding areas on dates between 15 December and 3 April last.

Garda Emma Kerins gave evidence of serving a Book of Evidence on the accused before yesterday's court.

Judge Mary Fahy returned Devaney for trial on continuing bail to Galway Circuit Criminal Court, commencing on 7 October next. Bail was initially granted in July on condition the accused have no contact with the complainants until completion of the matters before the court.
