Claregalway's bottle recycling facilities are to be moved to a new site following the abuse of the previous location, which was a privately owned site.

Progressive Democrats Councillor Jim Cuddy is working with Galway County Council to secure a new site for the bottle bank, which was removed shortly before Christmas.

There was serious concern expressed by the residents of Claregalway regarding the removal of these bottle banks.

"I have been in contact with the local area office and the environment section of Galway County Council and I have asked them to pursue an alternative site for the bottle banks as soon as possible," said Cllr Cuddy, adding that he hoped for a resolution soon.

"This is an important facility in any town or village and it is essential that they are re-instated," he added.
