Galway City and County Councils in partnership with the Arts Council is presenting 'From Inspiration to Realisation' ? Little John Nee ? Galway Theatre Residency programme 2007 to 2008. This is a series of workshops, panels and talks for independent theatre practitioners throughout the city and county of Galway.

This residency has been devised specifically with the intention of facilitating, informing and encouraging groups of independent theatre practitioners in the Galway city and county areas.

It is directed at groups and individuals who continue to show commitment to and consistency in creating works that aspire to excellence.

"Our work often falls short of its potential due to a lack of expertise in certain areas. Companies and individuals frequently working with small budgets are forced to double up and take on jobs they have no training or expertise in thus often leaving them feeling intimidated and overwhelmed. Many artists are intimidated by administrative procedures, this excludes them from funding and something like tax returns can be frightening," said Little John Nee.

"We have selected keynote speakers who have made enormous contributions to theatre development in Ireland, comprising of a series of workshops, panel discussions and talks covering current theatre policy and practice. Participants are encouraged to use this resource to further any project they might wish to begin or any project they are currently working on," said Galway City Arts Officer, James Harrold.

A Cunning Plan ? Making it happen where Ray Yeates (Director Axis Ballymun), Fergal Mc Grath (Manager Town Hall Theatre) and Tania Banotti (Theatre Forum) will discuss elements within theatre. This is a free event and will take place in the Town Hall Theatre Studio on Saturday 26 January at 2pm.
