Long-running parking shortages at University Hospital Galway (UHG) are set to be eased by a new car park at the site.

Planning permission has been granted this week for a temporary surface car park, with 146 new car spaces at the western end of the UHG campus, adjacent to the Paediatric Unit.

The area of the car park will be 0.57 hectares and the works will consist of bituminous macadam surfacing, kerbing, landscaping, lighting, CCTV security, drainage, control barriers and ancillary works.

Access to the car park will be from the internal ring road on the UHG Campus, subject to planning approval currently under consideration by Galway City Council.
