A new bus shelter is to be provided for Claregalway as part of a Bus Éireann package for Co. Galway.

According to Councillor Jim Cuddy, who had made representations to Bus Éireann on this issue, the council will now be seeking planning permission for the new shelter.

"Given the rapid population growth in Claregalway in recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of people using the bus.

"As the bus stop is located in a very open area, it can be very exposed and cold during the winter months and the provision of a new bus shelter is a very welcome development," he concluded.
