GMIT along with the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Éamon O Cuív has awarded 17 of its students with Údarás na Gaeltachta Scholarships.

The students are all first year students on the popular BA in Gno agus Cumarsáid (BAGC) programme at the college. They received their scholarships at a special ceremony in the institute attended by Minister O Cuív, Pádráig O hAoláin, Chief Executive of Údarás na Gaeltachta, and Marian Coy, Director of GMIT.

The BAGC programme is taught entirely through Irish in the School of Business at GMIT and is unique in combining a wide range of business and communication subjects. Údarás na Gaeltachta have been sponsoring scholarships to assist students from the Gaeltacht on the programme for the past three years. This year, first year BAGC students from Gaeltacht areas are entitled to scholarships subject to certain requirements including getting 300 points or more in the Leaving Certificate.
