A man is to appear at a special sitting of Galway District Court this morning after an assault on a Garda in Clifden on Sunday night.

The Garda, who was on duty at the time, is reportedly suffering from minor injuries after being bitten during the incident.

The assault took place in the town at around 8.30pm on Sunday.

Clifden Garda station said the Garda involved is recovering well and is expected to be back on duty tomorrow evening.
