Two Oranmore teenagers are to appear on live television as part of a nationwide talent search. Sixteen-year-old Fergal and 15-year-old Cathal Keaney from Maree, Oranmore will appear in RTÉ's Class Act talent search competition on Sunday 14 October at 6.30pm. The two boys started dancing at the age of four and haven't looked back since. Dancing for the Celine Hession School of Irish Dance in Salthill, they have collected an array of titles from both home and abroad down through the years. Fergal has won four World Championships, an All Ireland, eight Connacht titles, a European, Great Britain and British national title. Cathal has been equally successful winning one All Ireland, seven Connacht titles, and a European, Great Britain and British National title, along with being the runner up in World Championships for the last five years. Following their achievements at this year's World Irish Dancing Championships held in Glasgow, Fergal and Cathal along with three other dancers from their dance school were honoured by the Mayor and Galway City Council at a civic reception held in City Hall. The two brothers also perform in the summer trad phenomenon that is 'Trad on the Prom', held in the Salthill Hotel. They now need the public's vote to go through as a wildcard selection for the Class Act grand final. The show goes to air on RT?1 at 6.30pm on Sunday 14 October and the voting lines stay open until Tuesday 16 October. |
