Monday 22 January will see the return of Conradh na Gaeilge's popular Sean-Nos dancing classes under the expert and patient tuition of Conamara Sean-Nos Dancer Pádraig O hOibicín.
Sean-Nos dancing is an ad hoc style of solo dancing that survived the strict regulation of Irish dance in the 1930s. It is danced close to the floor; you don't need to perform gravity defying leaps making Sean-Nos a great hobby for all ages.
Classes are being offered both to the complete beginner at 7pm and to the more experienced learners at 9pm and 10pm. The classes are bilingual, so this is a fun and active way to learn Irish if you are not already a fluent speaker.
Club Árus na nGael will also host special Sean-Nos dancing nights during the year when students will get a chance to perform and also see other well known Sean-Nos dancers in action. The classes cost ?75 and will run for ten weeks.
