Renmore Military Barracks will host a special presentation of one of the talks from its public history lecture series today, Wednesday 21 November, at 2pm. The talk, which will be held in the lecture hall in the barracks, is titled ?Eye of the Storm-The Origins and Development of the Arab Israeli Conflict'. It will examine the background origins and progress of what is one of the world's most intractable conflicts, a conflict which has implications and effects well beyond its geographical borders. The talk will trace the orgins of the present impasse, from early biblical times through Roman conquests, the Crusader invasions and the Ottoman Empire before considering in more detail the events of the 12th century, which have created and shaped the present situation. The talk is open to all members of the public. This is a fund raising event for People in Need and as such there will be a suggested donation of €5 per guest. Places are limited and they should be reserved in advance. For further information, phone or text Brian MacGabhann on 085-7298831. |
