The search goes on for Tuam’s mystery millionaire, with no one yet coming forward to claim the lottery jackpot.
Tuam has become the focus of a media frenzy following the revelation that the €10 million winning ticket was sold in a Statoil service station on the Tuam Road.
The €6 quickpick, which was sold on Wednesday, will make the ticket holder the second biggest winner of the National Lottery after the Cunningham Family from Cork, who won €16 million earlier this year.
Speculation is mounting across the town as to who is the lucky winner. It is unknown whether they are local as it is a very busy station with plenty of passing trade and commuters heading in to and out of Galway. However, it is thought that the €6 ticket is unlikely to have been bought by a syndicate and will therefore make one lucky individual’s dreams come true.
Meanwhile, Statoil staff broke out the bubbly in celebration. Station manager Caroline Ward said they were delighted with the win.
“We are absolutely delighted to have sold the winning ticket. Unfortunately, I know it’s not me as I’ve already checked my ticket but somebody who bought their ticket here is now €10 million richer. Whoever it is, I hope that they come back to visit us here to fill up their new Rolls Royce or Ferrari!”
