A club in Westside is looking for volunteers to help out in their homework clubs. Homework Clubs run on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3pm to 4.30pm in the Westside Community Centre for children in fifth and sixth class. The children enjoy light refreshments when they come to the club and spend 15 minutes chatting and relaxing after the day in school. Once their snack is over, they spend 45 minutes doing their homework with the support of the volunteers. The last half an hour is spent doing fun activities as a group like games or art. The success of the Homework Club relies on the time and commitment of volunteers that give their time to support the club. As many of the current volunteers are students from NUIG, it is hard for them to keep up the volunteering from April to June. Anyone interested in volunteering for the Homework Club should contact Deirdre O'Connor on 091-528325. |
