A Westside-based youth organisation is looking for volunteers to help out with homework clubs in the city.

Youth Work Ireland, Galway-Westside is looking for enthusiastic people to help out with their homework clubs in Westside.

The organisation, formerly known as Galway Youth Federation, has been providing homework support and assistance for primary school children through a variety of educational activities during the past 15 years. The success of these programmes relies on committed volunteers that give up their time to make a positive change in their communities.

Currently, GYF Westside is recruiting volunteers to work in the homework clubs on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3pm to 4.30pm or on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3pm to 4.30pm. The clubs are offered to primary school children in the area. Volunteers provide one-to-one homework support and also participate in arts and crafts and group games activities with the children.

This year, Youth Work Ireland Galway-Westside would also like to offer homework support for students in first and second year of secondary school, however this will depend on the availability of enough volunteers. This club would run on Tuesday and Thursday from 5pm to 6pm. Experience is not essential as full training will be provided.

Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Marty Clare or Maria Torres on 091-528325.
