The 'Stories at the Museum' series continues this Thursday, 20 December, at 8pm, with 'Stories From Ancient Ireland' from two of Galway's greatest storytellers, Rab Swannock Fulton and Clare Muireann Murphy.

This event has become very popular, attracting a consistent following from a cross section of the Galway public. Tea and coffee is served free of charge, and the stories are told in the atmospheric candlelit setting of the Museum cafe. The event costs €10, with all tickets being sold on the door.

Also taking place in the museum on Thursday at 6pm will be the launch of the Galway Art Club Retrospective - a celebration of the work of so many of Galway's artists throughout the years.

The museum's events programme for the year will be brought to a close on Friday at lunchtime with a reading from Cork poet, Billy Ramsell. Admission for this event, which has been organised in conjunction with North Beach Nights, is €5.

Galway City Museum will be closed for the Christmas period from Sunday, 23 December.
