Over the last few months, local residents’ associations in Ballinfoile and Ballybane have been developing an application to apply for Community CCTV cameras in their areas.

In Ballybane, a range of door-to-door consultations and estate public meetings were held and the Ballybane Community Consultation Document was produced.

This document explains what the cameras do, the range of vision of the cameras and the issues of privacy that may be of concern to people. The document also outlines where the cameras will be initially installed. The document is available on the Galway City Council website at www.galwaycity.ie

In Ballinfoile, a technical survey is being carried out in the next fortnight to develop the consultation document.

A public meeting will be held on Wednesday, 27 February at 7pm in the Menlo Park Hotel. The local RAPID committee will be in touch with all local people to encourage them to attend.
