Galway's Latin Quarter will come alive this weekend with a host of free wicked entertainment for the inaugural Galway Abooo! Halloween Festival. From the country's biggest fancy dress party to Michael Jackson's Thriller-style dancing on the streets, all roads are leading to Galway for this year's Halloween celebrations. The celebrations kick off on Friday night with a fancy dress party on the streets of the Latin Quarter. 'The Big Fancy Dress Party' will be held in cafes, restaurants and bars in the area and everywhere you go the dress code is simple: fancy. But the action does not finish there as the following day, Saturday 31 October, 'The Big little Fancy Dress Party' will take place for all the younger generation from 3pm at Galway City Museum. The big challenge is to go green so all costumes need to be eco-friendly and made from recycled and environmentally friendly materials. Traditional Halloween antics of apple bobbing, trick or treat and dunking apples will be held on the streets of the Latin Quarter from 3pm on Saturday, while a huge re-enactment of Michael Jackson's blockbuster Thriller video will take place from 4pm on the streets of Galway's Latin Quarter. The Galway Abooo! Festival reaches its finale with the Saturday night 'Spooktacular Street Show' from 8pm. The medieval streets of the Latin Quarter will once again set the stage for not to be missed street performances, which will enchant and lead followers to St Nicholas's Church for a memorable and magical show. Irish Rail will be running a series of Ghost Trains from Dublin from only €10 each way. For more information or to book your seat on the Ghost Train, visit www.irishrail.ie, while a series of hotel deals are available at www.discoverireland.ie/galway. |
