The Halifax Branch on Galway's Eyre Square will be a bra-bank as well as a main street bank over the coming weeks, to help raise money for Cancer Care West and Mayo Cancer Support Association's Guinness World Record attempt to form an unbroken chain of bras exceeding 70 miles. The bank will act as a collection point where locals can drop off their old or new bras and make a €10 donation in aid of this worthy cause to raise awareness of cancer, with all moneys going directly to charity. Cancer Care West and the Mayo Cancer Support Association are dedicated to supporting those whose lives have been affected by cancer diagnosis and all funds raised help serve cancer patients and their families from all over the West of Ireland. Speaking at the announcement, Jenny Leacy, Halifax Branch Manager at Eyre Square, said: "We are calling on Galway women of all ages and sizes to drop in their bras and a donation to the branch. We want to make this Guinness World Record attempt a success and for that we need your support. So bring in your bras!" Donations can be made at any time from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm or on Saturday between 9am and 12pm. |
