“I come down to Galway a lot with different modelling assignments. I was down for the Races as well this year and had a great time. I’m very busy at the moment between my work for the TV station Bubble Hits and the modelling, but I am hoping to make it down for the Oyster Festival this year.”

This year’s Oyster Pearl Contestants were also formally introduced at the event. This year’s competition had a record number of entrants with 16 local women taking part. The winner will be chosen at a gala banquet next Thursday in the Ardilaun Hotel. A number of former Pearls were also in attendance at the launch, including 2006 winner Julia Foy who said she had a ‘fantastic year’ as the Oyster Pearl.

The 53rd Galway Oyster Festival will take place from the 27 to the 30 September, kicking off with Guinness Irish Oyster Opening Championships on Saturday 27 at 8pm. For tickets to any of this year’s events, go to www.galwayoysterfestival.com or fax your order for festival tickets to 091-527282 or phone 091-587992/527282.
