The Careers Office at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) is holding a major recruitment fair at its Dublin Road campus in October.

Over 70 national and international employers and a range of organisations and agencies will attend the Galway event, which takes place on Wednesday 31 October from 10am.

Representatives from companies in accounting, banking, business, pharmaceutical, engineering, IT and science will be in attendance, making it an ideal opportunity for students to make personal contact with national and international employers, get expert advice on skills requirements and learn all about the jobs market.

Exhibitors will include companies such as Ericsson Ireland, Beckman Coulter, Blackshore Holdings, Boston Scientific, Digi-Net, Elverys, Engineers Ireland, IBM, JJ Rhatigan, Jurys Inn, Lotus Automation, Public Appointments Service, Sinnott Hotel Group, Stiefel Laboratories and many others. The main accountancy bodies will be present, and a number of prominent recruitment agencies have already registered for the event.

GMIT Careers Officer, Bridie Killoran said: “It is a fantastic opportunity for employers to increase their company profile and to market their organisations to GMIT students and graduates.

“This event appeals to employers because they get direct access to students in a wide range of disciplines. So far we are delighted with the response and level of interest from both local and national companies.

“We would like to advise employers who cannot attend that we now have an excellent electronic vacancies service whereby employers can advertise their job vacancies to students and graduates of the college. This is a fast, free and effective way of filling job vacancies. Employers simply e-mail details of the job to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .” she added.

Places at the GMIT Recruitment Fair 2007 are filling up fast. However, if you want your company to partake in this event, contact GMIT Bridie Killoran on 091-742778 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
