As Galway will be buzzing with sailing folk and sailing talk over the coming months, now is the time to get in on the action. Satisfy your curiosity and find out what it's all about, with Galway Bay Sailing Club's Introduction to Sailing course, which will introduce people to the thrills, skills and spills of sailing and prepare them for what lies beyond.

The course, which runs for five nights, starts on Wednesday 4 March in the clubhouse in Renville, Oranmore. It is targeted towards adults and run in a fun, friendly way. It helps people make the transition from land to sea by covering theory and boat handling skills. Participants will also have the opportunity of water based learning in April by sailing dinghies, multi-hulls and cruisers.

People who have a physical disability can take up the challenge as the club has a boat specially adapted to accommodate such sailors.

The course costs €250 and is offset against the annual membership fee. The talks start each night at 8pm. For further information contact the club manager on 087-2637030 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
