Gardai are appealing to the public for help in apprehending two attackers who robbed and assaulted a man on Maunsell's Road on Sunday morning last. The man, who was walking home when the attack took place, suffered a minor injury to his right leg after his attackers pounced between 3.30am and 4am.

Reports that the attackers were clad in balaclavas and used iron bars were unconfirmed by the Gardai, but they did appeal to the public for help in solving the matter.

A spokesperson for Mill Street Gardai confirmed that they are looking for two suspects and they appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The victim managed to alert gardai a short time after the assault and robbery took place. He was then taken to University Hospital Galway for treatment but was released a short time later.
