The successful festival will run across many venues throughout Galway city from Thursday 8 November to Sunday 11 November and will feature a number of local and national acts representing their cultural voice. Spirit of Voice 2007 will continue its established theme as a major Irish festival for solo singers and spoken word artists.

Events over the weekend will include concerts, voice workshops, storytelling events, and poetry readings, from worldwide performers such as Ronan O’Snodaigh (founder member of Kila), MFA Kera, Eric Eckhart and groups such as Under Construction, the Galway Gospel Choir and many more.

Speaking at the launch of the festival, Spirit of the Voice Director, Ger Mulkerrins said they had chosen smaller venues in order to increase the intimacy of the events.

“We have chosen intimate, limited seated venues, such as the Rowing Club in Woodquay, the Crane Bar and Nimmo’s to host festival events as, in our sound experience, we feel this environment enhances the natural acoustic of the human voice, which is a massive audio benefit to its audience, allowing them to clearly enjoy the performer’s lyrics and words. We also would like to welcome volunteers who wish to help make this festival an enjoyable event.”

If you wish to volunteer, contact Ger directly on 086-336 7129 or for more information on the weekend long festival, log onto www.spiritofvoice.com.
