The Mervue woman who fled to Wales to avoid appearing in court earlier this month is back in police custody and currently awaiting a trail date.

Una Black, of Drom Chaoin on the Bishop O Donnell Road, is charged with the murder of 42-year-old John Malone at Walter Macken Flats. Mr Malone was found slumped in a doorway at the apartment complex on 3 December 2007. He had suffered several stab wounds to the upper body.

Ms Black's case was due to begin at the second ever sitting of Galway Central Criminal Court last Tuesday 8 April but it had to be aborted when she failed to turn up. It was later revealed that the 25 year old had fled to Wales, but was tracked down by police and returned to Rosslare on a ferry in the early hours of Friday 11 April. On her return, she was arrested by gardaí and remanded in custody to appear before the District Court.

The case has now been transferred to Dublin Central Criminal Court and Ms Black is to remain in custody while awaiting a trial date.
