A Galway butcher has been named Supreme Champion at the Craftbutcher Speciality Foods Competition.

Ciaran Quinn of Meat Supreme won the title for his corn-fed chicken stuffed with black pudding.

This competition is judged by members of the Irish Food Writers Guild and Eurotoques, the organisation of chefs and has both a competitive and product evaluation dimension. Gold, silver and bronze awards are given for product quality and these in turn help draw customers' attention to products that may not be on their normal shopping list and make a change from mass market factory foods.
