Sixteen-year-old Fergal and 15-year-old Cathal Keaney from Maree, Oranmore were voted the overall winner of RTÉ's young talent search programme Class Act on Sunday night.

The boys, who are from Maree, attend Calasanctius College in Oranmore. They have been dancing with the Celine Hession School Of Dance since they were six years old. They received a prize of €10,000.

Declared a wildcard on the previous week's show, the boys had just one week to prepare for the final. "The boys prepared well in the week and thankfully it all came together on Sunday night," said their mother, Kathleen Keaney.

"This is a great outlet for young people and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish. It showed the people of Ireland the high standard of talent that young people have in this country," remarked Kathleen.

The family thanked everybody in the West of Ireland, in Maree and at the boys school in Oranmore for all of their support during the programme.

This weekend sees the boys back on the stage at the Connacht Dancing Championships in Galway.
