Inis Mor natives The Mulkerrins Brothers have won 'The All-Ireland Talent Show' and claimed the €50,000 prize. The three brothers topped the poll on Sunday night with their unique mix of traditional music and sean-nós dancing. Their act had emerged as a favourite early in the competition after being chosen at a public audition by mentor Daithi O Shea. Fourteen-year old Padraig plays the accordion, eleven-year old Eamonn plays the fiddle while nine-year old Sean sean-nos dances. The Mulkerrins Brothers entered the final as hot favourites, followed by Carraroe 18-year old Daithi O Dronai and break-dancing seven-year old Jack Lynch, who finished runner up. The Mulkerrins said the achievement was a massive shock and that they would put the €50,000 towards improving their act. "Getting through to the final was amazing. We thought that was a big achievement, and even though we got through to the final, we didn't think we had a hope, so its massive shock…I am speechless. Thanks to everyone who voted for us, because without them we wouldn't have won," said an emotional Padraig Mulkerrins. |
