With the recession now in full swing and many people's Christmas parties either curtailed or cut back, a city centre pub has come up with a novel idea to celebrate the season with your work mates.

The King's Head will play host to a free Christmas party on Wednesday 10 December.

The night will feature all your traditional Christmas fare. Expect festive bites, tins of USA biscuits, selection boxes, lots of holly, mistletoe and office romance.

Benefiting on the night are Cope, a Galway based charity. Cope's mission is to 'support people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, women and children who experience domestic violence, and older people who are isolated, enabling them to secure their rights and achieve their potential'. People are invited to make a donation and show their support.

The night kicks off at 6pm with Santa's arrival by (raleigh) chopper.
