Five men were rescued by the RNLI at Renville on Monday evening. The powerboat in which the men were travelling, got into difficulty shortly after 4pm yesterday and the Galway RNLI lifeboat was launched at 4.55pm.

Niamh Stevenson, RNLI press officer, said it was a straight-forward rescue. "The lifeboat was in the water for about 35 minutes and towed the powerboat back to the Galway Bay Sailing Club. Thankfully, all the men on board were wearing life jackets, so it was as straight-forward a rescue the RNLI will face."
