Gardai say that a file is almost complete and will be shortly sent to the DPP in the case of a 22-year old Co. Galway man charged with the murder of his grandfather. Gearoid Fahy of Carrownamona, Ardrahan, Co. Galway is charged with the murder of Finbar Fahy (78) at Ballinduff, Ardrahan on Tuesday, 10 November.

Detective Garda Martin Glynn told Harristown District Court on Friday that a preliminary file was sent to the DPP in early December and that the complete file will be completed shortly.

"We are waiting on the post mortem report and a toxicology report and the full file will be sent to the DPP," he told Judge Geoffrey Browne. Fahy was remanded in custody to Castlerea Prison to appear again before Harristown District Court on 5 February.
