Leabhar Power, the popular initiative to promote Irish language books, will run from Monday, 3 to Monday, 17 March at various venues around Galway.

Now in its fourth year, Leabhar Power sets out to promote the wealth of Irish language books available to young and adult readers, through a series of events and promotions during Seachtain na Gaeilge.

As an added bonus, children who attend events will all receive Leabhar Power goodie bags with balloons, magnetic bookmarks and Leabhar Power sticker sheets to remind them and their friends and family to think Irish during Seachtain na Gaeilge and to get out there and buy Irish language books.

Last year Leabhar Power encouraged people to buy an Irish language book and feel the power. For 2008, the organisers want to extend that message to every household in the country, including homes where Irish is not the first language.

They are asking people to check their bookshelves for Irish language books, particularly new releases in 2008, which cross all genres from murder mysteries, romances, joke books to new plays and poetry.
